Customs Formalities - post brexit

Due to the Bailiwick of Guernsey (which includes Alderney, Sark & Herm) not having VAT or GST (Jersey has GST, currently set at 5% which is similar to VAT) imports in to the Bailiwick from the the UK don't attract any additional taxes (with the exception of excise) but if a consignment comes from the EU (or the rest of the world) we do have to account for possible duty. Duty may or may not be applicable depending on any tariff preference (post brexit UK/EU agreement) or if zero rated due to the tariff number itself.

With no UK VAT applicable in the Islands goods that leave on route to outside of the UK have to be accompanied by a T1 transit document, a fact not always understood by forwarders / shipping companies, transporters and even in some instances, Customs offices.

With a great many of these and similar documents already successfully issued and discharged over the past 25+ years we feel that we are more than qualified to offer seasoned advice and support.
